Happy to share the joyful & proudful moment of supportive activity by us to the doctors & nurses in the battle against COVID19. We have donated 120 facemask shields to General Hospital, Thrissur on 18/04/2020. Mr. Jinto A J & Mr. Antony J Alapatt represented AVA to handover the masks to the Superintendent, Dr. Sreedevi P in the presence of other official members of GH Hospital.

Happy to share that WE with the cooperation of all our members has donated 150 PPE kits to the DOCTORS & NURSES of General Hopsital, Thrissur who are fighting against COVID19 24X7. The Association Executive committee is thankful & expresses our sincere gratitude towards all our members for the extensive support.

Routine services have been disrupted worldwide and there is a pressing need of civil societies coming together to help the needy. A large number of institutions have closed down, social distancing and travel/work restrictions have been imposed in a lot of places.

“Zanik”, the College Magazine 2018, has been released in a brief ceremony held in the Auditorium on 2 August 2019.

The ceremonies began with an elegantly choreographed welcome dance by Vidya students which was followed by an enlightening welcome speech by Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean – Academics and Chief Editor of the Magazine). The presidential address was delivered by Er G Mohanachandran (Executive Director, VICT). Dr Sudha Balagopalan along with Sagar V S (Student Editor) handed over the first copy of the magazine wrapped in an envelope to the Principal to unveil the magazine. Er G Mohanachandran received the first copy of the magazine from the Principal. After the release of the magazine, certificates were distributed to “Vidhvangmay” Magazine Committee Members. As part of the ceremonies, Souparna (S5 B Tech CE) gave a rendition of her own poem which had been published in the magazine. There were felicitations by Dr V N Krishnachandran (Vice Principal) and Adv Methil Venugopal (PTA President). Sagar V S (Student Editor) proposed vote of thanks.

The event was concluded with a mesmerising musical performance by members of D’Medley, the Musis Club of Vidya.

Mr Ashid Sha Jaleel, a distinguished alumnus of the PE Dept of the College (B Tech, 2010-2014 batch), handled an interactive session with the students of ME and PE Depts on 20 August 2019 at 1.45 pm in the College Auditorium. The session was organised by the PE Dept as a part of alumni-college interaction. The session was blessed with the presence of Er G Mohanachandran, Executive Direction, VICT, Dr Sudha Balagopalan, Dean Academics, Prof K Dileep (Head of PE Dept) and faculty members of PE and ME Depts. Mr Ashid has just completed his Masters of Science in Sustainable Industrial Engineering from Grenoble INP – Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble, France and got a placement as Application Engineer at German RepRap GmbH, Germany.

Our Vidya’s moment of glory in an international arena!

Subin Siby (S5 B Tech CSE B) of Vidya participated in Asia’s biggest Ethereum hackathon known as ETHIndia 2.0 held at MLR Convention Center, JP Nagar, Bengaluru during 2 – 4 August 2019.

Ethereum is an open source blockchain based distributed computing platform. The international Ethereum foundation, UNICEF Foundation and various companies and startups operating in Ethereum ecosystem sponsored the grand event. More than 1800 enthusiasts applied to participate in the hackathon and around 400 enthusiasts were selected. There were only 11 keralites among the 400 selected persons.

The team “Bohemian Satoshi” to which Subin Siby belonged became one of the six winners of the hackathon. The team’s project was on “Decentralized Torrent Search Engine” nicknamed Tessa.

NSS units of our Vidya makes VAST a centre for collection of relief materials

All educational institutions in Thrissur District are remaining closed since 9 August 2019. The NSS volunteers of Vidya, put their bodies and minds in extending a helping hand to whoever requires one. As a new initiative this time, the NSS units have turned Vidya into an unofficial centre for the collection of relief materials.

The centre collected all items that are likely to be useful to those affected by the floods and those who are temporarily staying the various relief camps, items like essential medicines, soap, tooth brush, tooth past , biscuits, drinking water, buckets and cups, mats, dress items like lungi , shirts, dresses for kids, bed sheets etc. The collected items are to be transferred to flood affected regions through authorized Government agencies.

Our Vidya pays tributes to our Former Academic Director Dr D Balakrishnan Sir.

The 9th Dr D Balakrishnan Commemorative programme was conducted on 16 August 2019 at the College Auditorium. The Chief Guest for the function was Dr S Umashankar, Professor, Prince Sultan University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He is a graduate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and his area of expertise is “Electric Vehicles, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning”. In the session, Dr S Umashankar presented a talk on “Opportunities for Engineers”.

The Editorial Team of News & Events, AVA is happy to announce that as many as 55 students of Vidya, admitted in the year 2015 and studying in various B Tech prograames, have been qualified in the Honours examinations and have become eligible to receive the B Tech (Honours) degree subject to the other conditions associated with the award of the B Tech (Honours) degree. Among the 63 students, 33 students are in the CE stream, 13 in the CSE stream, 9 in the EEE stream and 8 in the ECE stream.

Our Vidya has been accredited by All India Council for Robotics and Animation (AICRA) as an Accredited Training Partner (Accreditation No. is AA00164). Vidya is the first institute (academic or non-academic) in Kerala to get such an accreditation.

All India Council for Robotics and Automation (AICRA), a not-for-profit organization, is the apex body setting up standards in robotics and automation and education industry as well as helping over 35,00+ member organizations and professionals to solve difficult technical problems, while enhancing their leadership and personal career capabilities.

Established in 2014, AICRA’s relentless pursuit has been to constantly support the rbotics and automation industry, providing support systems to institutions such as quality assurance, information systems and train-the-trainer (TTT) academies either directly or through partnerships. To strengthen supplementary skill development, AICRA focuses on fostering private sector led efforts that include both non-profit and for-profit initiatives with the goal of building models that are scalable. Ms Risha P Haridas, alumnus - B Tech (EEE) 2017 pass out batch, is getting noticed in the tinsel world of Tamil cinema for essaying one of the leading feminine characters in the Tamil movie Chiyangal directed by Vaigarai Balan. Ms Risha, a native of Mupliyam. Puthukkad, was very much involved in the activities of the NSS units of Vidya, and she had made her presence felt in the annual arts festival and competitions of Vidya.

Acccording to the Director of the film, “Chiyangal is based on the emotions faced by the elders in all our families. It has seven main characters, and each one will remind us of the old people we come across in our lives. The film conveys the message that if people have a strong will to fulfil their ambitions in their old age, even death will hold off until they achieve their goals.”

Mr Vishnu Vidyadharan , alumunus of B Tech 2018 pass out batch of the Civil Engineering Department of Vidya has started a company named “Beaver: Planners, Engineers and Contractors”. The office of the company is located at Hari Memorial Building, BNC Corner, Poonkunnam, Thrissur. Prof K V Leela, Visiting Professor of Vidya and Er Sasikumar jointly inaugurated and blessed the new venture on 26 June 2019. The company render services in construction, planning, design, estimation, contract, interiors and supervision. The company can be accessed via the email id : beaverplanners@gmail.com
